The
International Ambassadors Program at UTEP connects a select and diverse team of
international students with various local groups and organizations. In doing so,
area schools, community service organizations, campus classes, and local media
events are provided with invaluable exposure to the world's cultural diversity.
UTEP
has more than 2,200 incredibly diverse international students from more than 70
countries. The International Ambassadors Program helps the community gain from
that resource through presentations, meetings, and events by the Ambassadors at
K-12 schools, social club functions, and campus activities, among others, to
promote multi-cultural awareness and to contribute to the improvement of
international relations.
International
Ambassador presentations are provided as community service and are free of
charge.
Whether
it’s sharing insights about the Gauchos from Argentina,
the Australian Aborigines, the infamous Brazilian Carnival, the Rose’s
extraction process in Bulgaria, the mystery of Romania’s Dracula myth, or
Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy of peaceful change in India, UTEP’s International
Ambassadors offer a window to the world through direct
interaction with students
from another country.
The program
offers
a unique
learning environment for the exploration
of new
ideas, values, interests, and problems, some of which might
be
similar to one's
own and others that might
be quite
different.
