  2003 - 2004 International Ambassadors Program

                 Hassan Amiri  - Iran

Hassan is working on his master’s degree in Civil Engineering and is planning to continue his education in a related major toward a PhD degree. Although his primary reason for coming to US was better higher education, he enjoys communication with other cultures. However, for him the value of this interaction is not less than academic progress.

While spending most of his adolescence in a traditional neighborhood and then moving to the relatively modern city of Tehran, capital of Iran, Hassan has continued to enjoy an expanding progressive environment. He is glad to experience modernity and tradition together just like the situation that exists in his country. In his opinion, Iran is in the middle of an endeavor to combine what she has inherited from more than 4000 years of glamorous history and what modernity has brought to her.

As an International Ambassador at UTEP he would like to increase his knowledge of other cultures and introduce what he thinks is missing in the circulation of information about his culture.
